Donation of school laboratory equipment by DEF Burkina Faso

As part of its project to support schools in modernising their learning tools, DEF Burkina Faso has donated laboratory equipment to schools in Burkina Faso.  The equipment, consisting of microscopes, test tubes, test tube stands, thermometers, scales, etc., will enable pupils in these schools to improve their knowledge of the exact sciences through practical work.

In Burkina Faso, as in many other African countries, 9 out of 10 schools do not have a school laboratory worth that name. This means that teachers do not have the necessary tools to teach applied exact sciences.
As a result, pupils finish school without ever seeing a microscope, doing tests on rocks with tubes , seeing how electric current works, etc.
In rural areas of Burkina Faso, the situation is even worse, as schools do not even have a basic tools, let alone laboratories.
In view of the above, DEF Burkina Faso has initiated a project called ‘Support for learning the exact sciences in Africa’.
The main aim of this project is to help schools in Burkina Faso to set up school laboratories to enable pupils to carry out practical work in the exact sciences.
As part of this project, we have donated school laboratory equipment to five (05) schools in Burkina Faso.
These schools were chosen because of their geographical location (rural area) and the fact that they cater for IDP (internally displaced person) pupils. These pupils are victims of terrorist attacks, many of whom have lost their parents.
Thanks to the laboratory equipment we have donated to these schools, their pupils will be able to see and handle microscopes for the first time, use test tubes and understand what electrical voltage and amperage are.
Dozens of other schools have been identified as part of this project and we are looking for partners to enable these thousands of pupils to see and handle school laboratory equipment.
If you have microscopes, test tubes or measuring equipment that you no longer use, donate them to us for the pupils in Africa.
